MUSCLE SHOALS, AL — Robbins LLC has invested in a revolutionary new chemical weighing system. The system, developed in Italy by ColorService, will automate the weighing of accelerators and additives used in the custom mixing of rubber compounds.
“The small chemical weighment can be a very time consuming and labor intensive operation.” said Derek Hutchison, Exec. VP Robbins LLC. “This new system will eliminate manual weighing while at the same time give us accuracy of about half a gram.”
The state of the art system features a double line of silos, each incorporating a screw feed dosing device. The weighments are done directly on load cells to detect the weight accurately. The dispensing is moved step by step in a loop pattern with a translator moving every bag from one coupled row of silos to the next.
“The beauty of this system is that we can dispense all of the weighments at the same time. Each bag will contain an individual recipe including all the products for that recipe dispensed together, bar coded for lot traceability, sealed and ready to head to the mixer.”
The system has been engineered with a pneumatic concept instead of electric, allowing a 24 hour work day without interruptions.
